The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) has commissioned transformer upgrades in Matugga, Bombo and Kapeeka to improve electricity reliability and address growing power demand in the three areas.

The works include the installation of new transformers, upgrades of existing power lines and extension of supply to underserved communities.

In Matugga, UEDCL installed two new distribution transformers and upgraded infrastructure in Galozi Zone and Kirowa village to improve network efficiency and reduce overloading.

In Bombo, the company installed two new 50kVA transformers and upgraded power lines serving Wabitembe and Kabonge villages.

In Kapeeka, power supply was extended to Mulama-Kitebere village through the installation of two transformers and construction of new power lines.

Speaking during the commissioning, Senior Project Engineer Jenneth Anena Mwa said the upgrades will strengthen the distribution network, improve voltage quality and enhance supply reliability for households and businesses.

She urged communities to safeguard the infrastructure and report acts of vandalism to ensure continued service delivery.
