Uganda’s national netball teams, the women’s She Cranes and the men’s The Rock, have travelled to Nairobi, Kenya, to compete in the 2026 Africa Netball Championships.

The championships are scheduled to take place from September 19 to 26, 2026, with Uganda’s teams officially flagged off by the National Council of Sports (NCS) ahead of the tournament.

The She Cranes travelled with a squad of 14 players and have been placed in Group B, alongside Zimbabwe, Botswana, Zambia and Tanzania.

Uganda will be seeking to win the continental title for the fourth time. The She Cranes previously won the championship in 2014 in Botswana, 2017 in Uganda, and 2018 in Zambia.

Among the players who travelled with the She Cranes are captain Racheal Nanyonga, Margaret Baagala, Shadia Nassanga, Joan Nantumbwe, Annet Namuddu, Christine Namulumba and Shafie Nalwanja, among others.

Meanwhile, Uganda’s men’s national netball team, The Rock, will also compete at the championships with a squad of 14 players.

The Rock have been drawn in a group alongside Kenya, South Africa, Eswatini and Malawi.

Both Ugandan teams travelled to Nairobi by bus as they prepare to represent the country at the continental championships.
