Police have launched investigations into the murder of former soldier and musician Robert Kabara, popularly known as Sergeant Robert, whose headless body was discovered in Luwala Village, Mpigi District.

The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, with police saying investigations are ongoing to establish his background, nationality and whether he previously served in the military.

Addressing journalists at the Uganda Police Force headquarters in Naguru on Monday, police spokesperson Rusoke Kituuma said authorities would establish the facts surrounding the deceased’s identity and background as investigations progress.

Kituuma said police had noted various claims about Kabara, including allegations that he was a Rwandan national, a refugee and a former serving soldier.

However, he cautioned against drawing conclusions before investigators had verified the information.

“Whatever has been alleged, we shall establish in the course of the investigations. I cannot tentatively draw lines at the moment,” Kituuma said.

The police spokesperson also ruled out claims that investigators had identified suspects in connection with the murder, saying no suspects had been established at the time of his briefing.

“Whether we have any suspects? No, we don’t have. Because if we had any suspects, I would have told the nation which,” he said.

Police are expected to establish the circumstances surrounding Kabara’s death and verify the claims about his nationality and military background as investigations continue.

The discovery of his body in Mpigi District has raised questions about the circumstances of the killing, but police have urged the public to allow investigators to establish the facts before drawing conclusions.
