BW EYOGERERE, Wakiso District — Four people, including a juvenile child, have died after a perimeter wall collapsed onto two residential houses in Butto Zone, Bweyogerere Division, Kira Municipality, Wakiso District, during heavy rainfall on Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:30 a.m. on October 20, 2026, according to Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP).

The deceased have been identified as Okoth David, 25; Angella Inebe, 28; Alaba Lucy, 28; and Lucy’s juvenile son. All four were occupants of the affected houses and reportedly died instantly when the wall collapsed.

The landlord, Ssenyoga Francis, sustained injuries and was rushed to a health facility for treatment.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, preliminary information indicates that heavy rainfall and flowing water from the premises of Delux Company exerted pressure on the company’s perimeter wall, causing it to collapse onto the neighbouring residential houses.

Police responded to the scene, recorded statements from some witnesses and conveyed the bodies to KCCA City Mortuary in Mulago pending postmortem examinations.

Investigations Focus on Drainage and Renovation Works

Preliminary findings indicate that Delux Company had recently acquired the factory and was carrying out renovation works, including grading the compound.

Investigators are examining whether the renovation works and drainage arrangements contributed to the accumulation and flow of water that preceded the collapse.

Police have not yet established the full circumstances surrounding the incident, and investigations remain ongoing.

Police Warn Property Owners Over Safety

Kampala Metropolitan Police has urged property owners, construction companies and developers to ensure that buildings and perimeter walls are structurally sound and that adequate drainage systems are in place, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall.

Developers have also been advised to assess the potential impact of construction and renovation activities on neighbouring properties and take appropriate precautions to protect lives and property.

Police said further updates would be provided as investigations progress and more information becomes available.

Kampala Metropolitan Police has extended its condolences to the families of the deceased following the tragedy.
