NUP President , Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu has stopped his supporters from shouting at Amb. Olara Otunnu for agreeing to run for the post of UN Secretary-General at the nomination of a government he has long opposed, who see Otunnu as a hypocrite.
Kyagulanyi told them that although he was nominated by the government, Otunnu is a man of color and if he wins the seat, he cannot compromise on any issue and if the government complains he will do what is necessary to bring it back on track.
He then expressed his support for Amb. Olara Otunnu saying there was no doubt that he deserved the position because of his skills, vision, and dedication he displayed throughout his service.
