Katwe Police have arrested 47 suspects during a joint security and intelligence-led operation targeting alleged drug abuse and other criminal activities in areas of Makindye-Ssabagabo Municipality, Wakiso District.

The operation, which began at about 4:00pm and ended at approximately 2:00am on October 2, 2026, was conducted in Kanaaba Zone, Kabuuma Zone, Ndejje Parish and Kitebi Zone in Bunamwaya Parish.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) spokesperson SP Racheal Kawala, 22 suspects were initially arrested in Kanaaba and Kabuuma zones before the operation was extended to Kitebi Zone, where another 25 suspects were apprehended.
The arrests brought the total number of suspects to 47.
Among those arrested was Kabuye Marvin, whom police described as a notorious suspect allegedly involved in altering motorcycle chassis and engine numbers.


Police said Marvin was found in possession of several breaking implements and devices allegedly used to alter motorcycle chassis and engine numbers.
Exhibits recovered
During the operation, police also recovered several exhibits, including:
- Suspected narcotic drugs
- Shisha pots
- Breaking implements
- A UGF 974 L Bajaj Boxer, red in colour
- An UMA 918 M Haojue, maroon in colour
Police said the arrested suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
The suspects are expected to face court proceedings once investigations into the alleged offences are completed.
The operation is part of ongoing police efforts to address drug abuse and other criminal activities in communities within the Kampala metropolitan area.
