Masaka High Court has dismissed an election petition filed by Rose Nalubowa challenging Justine Nameere’s victory, ruling that the petitioner failed to prove that the officially declared election results were incorrect. The court also ordered Nalubowa to pay the costs of the case.

In a ruling delivered on October 21, 2026, Justice Bernard Namanya acknowledged that the vote recount had violated electoral laws and that the integrity of election materials had been compromised. However, he held that these irregularities were insufficient to establish that the declared results were wrong.

The judge further noted that excluding the 1,353 disputed votes would not have changed the outcome of the election.

According to the court’s calculations, even if the 1,353 votes had been added to Nalubowa’s 23,176 votes, her total would have risen to 24,529, still 973 votes short of Nameere’s 25,502 votes.

Justice Namanya consequently dismissed the petition, leaving Nameere’s victory intact and directing Nalubowa to meet the legal costs incurred in the proceedings.
