POLICE ARREST 12 SUSPECTS OVER ASSAULT OF FELLOW TEENAGER IN KAMPALA

KAMPALA — Police at Kabalagala have arrested 12 suspects, including the alleged prime suspect captured in a video assaulting a fellow teenager. The video circulated widely on social media.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Racheal Kawala, all 12 suspects are Senior One students. The alleged prime suspect is 16 years old, while preliminary investigations indicate that the other suspects are also minors aged between 14 and 17.

The suspects were arrested on September 17 and 18, 2026, during an intelligence-led operation conducted in Nakibinge Zone, Kibuli Parish, Makindye Division, Kampala District. The final arrests were made at approximately 2:00 a.m. on September 18.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the assault took place on September 13, 2026, at around 6:00 p.m. in Nakibinge Zone, Kibuli Parish, Makindye Division.

The victim, who is also approximately 16 years old, is currently staying at his mother’s residence in the same area, where he is receiving medical treatment.

The suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and determine the individual roles of each suspect.

The Uganda Police Force has strongly condemned acts of violence, particularly those involving minors, and reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the rule of law and protecting the safety and dignity of all individuals.

Police further emphasized that anyone found to have engaged in unlawful conduct will be dealt with in accordance with the law and applicable procedures governing juvenile offenders.
