The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces are once again preparing to showcase skill, unity, and creativity.
From the 22nd to the 25th of this month, Kololo Ceremonial Grounds will host the 2nd UPDF National Drill Competition.

This year’s theme is Precision, Discipline and Cohesion – Pillars of National Resilience and Transformation.

Unlike last year, organizers say this edition will introduce new creative elements, including music integration and dance, aimed at fostering both discipline and creativity among UPDF personnel.

This competition is not just about marching. It’s about precision, discipline and cohesion. It’s about showing the values that make us a resilient and transformed force.

In a bid to give more personnel an opportunity to participate, those who took part in last year’s competition will not compete this year.

The event will bring together senior officers, junior officers, and other ranks. They will showcase talents that highlight the UPDF identity, with national symbols and cultural displays also part of the performances.

We want every rank to be represented. From senior to junior, everyone will have a chance to showcase what the UPDF stands for, including our culture and national identity.

The Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, is expected to spearhead the ceremonies.
The best performing units in drill will be awarded trophies, and competitors have been urged to give their best.

The CDF will be here to lead. We call upon all participants to put in their best, because excellence will be rewarded.

The UPDF has also invited members of the public to attend and support the competition, saying the event is aimed at deepening ties between the army and the community.
