WAKISO, UGANDA — Police in Wakiso District have arrested a 38-year-old man following the circulation of a video on social media allegedly showing him defiling a four-year-old girl.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Racheal Kawala, the alleged incident took place in Basawuli Village, Bakka Parish, Mende Sub-county, Wakiso District.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect allegedly placed the child on his lap before sexually abusing her.
The suspect, identified as Iyephet Acedra, 38, has been arrested and is currently in police custody as investigations continue.
Police said the child will undergo a medical examination to support the ongoing investigations and establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident.
Authorities have condemned all forms of sexual abuse and violence against children, urging parents, guardians and members of the public to remain vigilant and take all necessary measures to protect children from abuse.
The public has also been urged to promptly report any suspected cases of child abuse to the nearest police station or other relevant authorities.
