WAKISO — Police in Wakiso have recovered a stolen motorcycle, registration number UFY 693J, a Haojue, and arrested one suspect in connection with the theft.
The motorcycle was reported stolen in the early hours of Friday, September 18, 2026, from Kisimbiri Central Cell in Wakiso Town Council.
According to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, the motorcycle owner parked it outside his home at around 4:00 a.m. and briefly went inside.
When he returned approximately 20 minutes later, he discovered that the motorcycle was missing. He immediately alerted fellow boda boda riders, who launched a search for the stolen vehicle.
The riders later discovered two men in a corridor allegedly attempting to dismantle the motorcycle. The suspects fled, abandoning the motorcycle, but the riders managed to apprehend one of them.
The suspect was subsequently rescued from a mob by responding police officers and taken into custody.
Police identified the suspect as Molly Cyrus, 27, who is currently detained at Wakiso Police Station. Preliminary investigations indicate that Cyrus and an accomplice, identified only as Asaad, allegedly stole the motorcycle and attempted to alter its appearance before selling it.
The recovered motorcycle is being kept at Wakiso Police Station as investigations continue. The scene was examined and documented by the Division’s Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO) team.
Police commended the boda boda riders for their swift response and cooperation in helping recover the stolen motorcycle and apprehend the suspect.
Authorities have also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
