This publication has seen a medical report dated 30th June, 2026 written by the Mulago National Referral Hospital Director, Dr. Byanyima K. Rosemary which recommends Lukwago’s travel to India for specialized medical attention.
According to the report addressed to the Makindye Chief Magistrate’s Court, a team of 5 specialist was constituted to examine Lukwago on 26th June, 2026.
Whereas, other complications identified such as High Blood Pressure, and unresolved post-covid 19 lung complex with residual mild cylindrical bronchiectasis are manageable in Uganda, residual cervical radiculitis following a disc replacement in India remains a point of challenge.
Dr. Byanyima advises that Lukwago should be allowed to see his personal surgeons in India who carried out the operation for a spinal review for the persistent upper limbs radiculitis.
She argues that this is necessary because Mulago was unable to repeat his MRI investigations since they were uncertain of the compatibility of the implants that were used for his original spine surgery.
Lukwago appeared before court by zoom today, Tuesday pleading with the Magistrate to grant him bail to seek specialized medical treatment saying he is in acute pain. The application was however, not heard because the Magistrate was indisposed.
